A permit from the Agricultural authority will also be needed to bring in any wild fauna and flora but seeds are not to be included. All imported goods must be soil free. Untreated animal hides, skins and derivatives will also need to be accompanied by an import licence from the Agricultural Authority before allowed admittance.

Basic health information for travelers to Falkland Islands
• Although not an official requirement, the Ministry of Defense recommends inoculation against yellow fever in case flights are diverted to a high risk area.
• Routine vaccinations against Polio and Hepatitis A and B should be obtained prior to visiting the islands. Travellers should exercise normal procedures when dealing with needles or when engaging in sexual intercourse.
• Medical and dental care is free for UK citizens providing the injured traveller can prove UK citizenship via either a passport or driving licence. The main hospital on the islands is the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) in Stanley which can offer up to date medical care although an air lift to nearby countries may be required in the event of serious injury.

• Unexploded bombs and other ordnance from the 1982 Falklands conflict are still present in the Falklands but all minefields are clearly marked. Travellers should avoid the fenced off minefields and not attempt to remove any of the weapons from the country. Photographing Mount Pleasant Airport is illegal and may lead to seizure and detainment by the police or the security services.
• The temperature and weather conditions in the Falklands can change rapidly and sometimes turn extremely hot. Travellers who struggle in the heat are advised to obtain plenty of sun cream and liquids either prior to or upon entry to the island.
